'Dogwood in the Dark'

from NZ$75.00

Dogwood...not a particularly pretty name for one of my all time favourite trees!

#funfact : Why is it called Dogwood? Nothing to do with dogs apparently, but perhaps a misspelling of ‘Dagwood’... Dags, in this instance (nothing to do with sheep 🐑 bottoms) are sharpened bits of wood used as darts, arrow shafts etc back in the days when such things were a necessity.

In Victorian times apparently hopeful bachelors would offer a sprig of Dogwood to a lady they might fancy. If she kept it, that meant she was keen. If it was returned, he was out of luck!
